Movember: Fighting prostate cancer with moustaches

Screw you November, it’s time for Movember! That’s right, November is getting the ‘stache treatment to help raise awareness about prostate cancer. What’s the big deal about prostate cancer? You don’ really hear about it that often, but it’s the 2nd most common type of cancer, 2nd only to skin cancer.

In the U.S., Movember is partnering with the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG to further innovative research, support, education, and awareness initiatives.

How Can You Get Involved?

Grow a ‘stache and give some cash. But what’s the deal with the moustache? Movember says,

Each Movember we challenge men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache. The moustache is our ribbon, the means by which we raise awareness and funds for cancers that affect men. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, our commitment is to grow a moustache for 30 days.

Feel free to join with me and Derek Markham (@DerekMarkham on Twitter) on Team Soul Patch so we can team up and raise awareness together. Soul patch not required to join.

Has anyone you know dealt with prostate cancer?
